Ryeqo is a prescription-only, once-daily oral medication used to treat moderate to severe symptoms of uterine fibroids in adult women. By combining Relugolix, Estradiol, and Norethisterone acetate, Ryeqo effectively reduces heavy menstrual bleeding and alleviates pelvic pain while managing hormonal side effects and preserving bone health.
Product Description
Ryeqo Tablets for Uterine Fibroids. is an innovative, once-daily combination therapy designed to treat moderate to severe symptoms of uterine fibroids (also known as leiomyomas) in adult women of reproductive age. It is the first oral treatment of its kind, offering a non-surgical alternative for managing the debilitating effects of fibroids, such as heavy menstrual bleeding and pelvic pain.
How Ryeqo Tablets for Uterine Fibroids Works
Ryeqo utilizes a triple-action formula to manage symptoms effectively while minimizing side effects:
Relugolix (40mg): A GnRH receptor antagonist that lowers the production of estrogen and progesterone, the hormones that fuel fibroid growth.
Estradiol (1mg): An estrogen specifically included to replace some of the hormones lowered by Relugolix, preventing symptoms of low estrogen like hot flushes and bone density loss.
Norethisterone Acetate (0.5mg): A progestogen added to protect the lining of the womb (endometrium).
Benefits of Treatment
Clinical studies suggest that Ryeqo can significantly reduce menstrual blood loss and pain associated with uterine fibroids. Many patients experience a reduction in bleeding within the first month of treatment. By controlling these symptoms, Ryeqo helps improve haemoglobin levels (treating anaemia caused by heavy periods) and enhances overall quality of life.
Usage and Safety
Ryeqo is taken as a single tablet once every day, at approximately the same time, with or without food.
Important Note: Ryeqo inhibits ovulation and provides contraception; however, non-hormonal barrier methods (like condoms) should be used for the first month of treatment. You must stop taking any other hormonal contraceptives (like the pill or patch) before starting Ryeqo.
